Every time I read a book, I end up savoring particular lines and storylines.
That happened again when I re-read “Grampy and His Fairyzona Playmates,” even though it’s a fantasy I actually wrote with my granddaughter, Hannah Schifrin.
I especially liked the notion that at a restaurant owned by Kitty Fluffycakes, a Siamese cat, our three main characters all “sipped Arnold Palmers, which, if made correctly, mixes lemonade, iced tea and a pinch of love.”
And I loved the fact that when Lily won in her division of the Unicorn Racing Championships, she grinned “from wing to wing.”
Scenes I liked best include the five baby chicks passing by bench-sitting Lily and Penny singing jazz instead of cheeping, and, when the girls are frightened by a movie, Grampy making the robot characters less scary.
I giggled at Lily remembering when she blew out the candles on her birthday cake so hard “the top of it flew across the room and hit Grampy in the face,” and I was thrilled that the girls decided to “stop all the thunder-and-lightning storms, floods, earthquakes and tornadoes all over the planet, for three full days.
Thinking about all that left me to wonder, though: What lines or scenes in “Grampy and His Fairyzona Playmates” are your favorites?
I’d love it if you’d contact me at voodee@sbcglobal.net and list your favorite passages or parts of the book.
